Dr. Hans Kok

 

Dr. Hans Kok, Coordinator of the Indiana Cropping Systems Initiative and Indiana Conservation Partnership, will speak about the adoption of practices and cropping systems that can lead to improved soil health.  Dr. Hans Kok (pronounced “Hahns Coke”) is an independent agricultural conservation consultant based out of Indianapolis.  He currently is the lead agronomist for the Indiana In-Field Advantage Network, and a project director with the Conservation Technology Information Center (CTIC) in West-Lafayette, Indiana, and provides educational events for Conservation Districts and private industry throughout the Midwest.  Hans was one of the founding members of the Indiana Conservation Cropping Systems Initiative and helped launch the Soil Health Partnership. Prior, he was an associate professor at Washington State University, the University of Idaho, and Kansas State University, and he worked as a conservation tillage specialist for Monsanto. He has worked on conservation projects in Israel, Spain, and Austria.  Dr. Kok received a Bachelors in Environmental Sciences and a Masters in Agricultural Engineering degrees from the Agricultural University in The Netherlands, and a Ph.D. in Agricultural Engineering from the University of Idaho.  He has written numerous soil and water conservation extension publications, educational materials, and refereed journal articles.  Prior awards include the 2017 No-till Innovator Award for Research and Extension, and 2016 Top Speaker at the National No-till Conference, 2014 Pioneer Direct Seed Researcher for the Pacific Northwest Direct Seed Association, 1997 Kansas State University Extension Builder, and several educational materials awards.
